Arts Lab’s ‘Great Sketchbook Project’ for kids (9-13yrs) is back with the wonderful Sophy D’Angelo.

Starting Monday 2nd November at 3.30pm, this fabulous 8 week online course is designed to keep your kids happy, connected and creative …. exploring drawing and painting in all its forms!

Experimenting with a range of materials, we will combine media to get fantastic visual results. Techniques include: book making, wax relief, charcoal smudging, collage, mark making, stencils, mono prints and scraper board. Please have the materials list ready to fully enjoy the sessions.

Themes can be decided by the group in the first session. Sophy looks forward to having fun making some lovely art together.

Materials required at home: paper to make a book or a ready made sketchbook, pens including fine liners & marker pens, HB & colour pencils, crayons, sharpener, rubber, ruler, ready mix paint, paint brushes (small & medium size), masking tape or sellotape, glue sticks, PVA glue, scissors

Ideal Extras: chalk or oil pastels, inks, watercolour set, charcoal, cardboard (e.g. recycled cereal boxes)

About the tutor

Sophy D’Angelo is a qualified art teacher and educator with over 25 years’ experience in facilitating art practice in a range of contexts. Her most recent work has included teaching Art and Photography at the South Devon Steiner School, as well as running the Junior programme for Arts Lab since it started in 2017. Prior to this, Sophy worked freelance in mainstream and special needs art education. This included leading festivals, after school programmes and gallery and outreach education for organisations including The Thames Festival, Kids Company, Tate Modern, Morley College and Dulwich Picture Gallery. She is a graduate from the University of the West of England, with a B.A. (Hons) in Art and Social Context. Throughout, she has enjoyed combining her love of working with groups of all ages with creating experimental visual artwork in versatile media.
