The hands on act of making the work is important there is always experimentation and I want to capture that playfulness in the sculpture. There is a lot of drawing done first so I have already found a core shape that I want to use before I get hands on with my materials. The sculpture is then a result of the processes of making, the research work goes to the back of my mind and innate interactions like touch take over. The simple sculptural forms can look primitive and raw, it is how they make me feel that I am interested in. Once finished the sculptures take on their own energy and occupy their own space.
