Visual Arts for Peace

For schools and universities – workshops and short courses contributing to arts-based Peace Studies education and learning.

These mulitidisciplinary workshops blend hands-on creative making and looking activities with discussion, student presentations and academic input based on the theory and practice of peacebuilding and conflict transformation.

What we help you with

  • Developing practical, dynamic and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning in peace and conflict education.
  • Learning new non-violent, non-verbal approaches to peacebuilding and professional tasks in environments at risk of or recovering from conflict.
  • Improving confidence in effective communication.

‘Permission to spend time and focus creating on my own, guided without judgement, helped me to feel calm and free.’

‘Everyone seemed to be equally engaged – it felt meaningful and focussed, without expectations to be an experienced or accomplished artist.’

‘Useful for illiterate beneficiaries as an alternative means of conveying message and expression.’

‘The collaborative part of the activity encouraged teamwork, respecting others’ ideas and helping to overcome disagreement.’

‘Simple, affordable materials make it accessible for wide-ranging communities and easy to implement.’
