Towards the end of the summer term of 2018, a group of 14 year olds from Stover School enjoyed a day of expressive painting and drawing in and around the Arts Lab studio and the Dartington gardens. We did some collaborative body-size action drawing and painting over the top of the ‘mass movement drawings’ from Community Day. Outside in the afternoon, students made individual observational drawings in the gardens, followed by large-scale outdoor drawing, building up and working into cut up sections from the morning. The grand finale: putting the pieces back together!
‘The tutor was open and imaginative, giving direction when needed and allowing the group to flow. – A lovely creative experience suited to all abilities.’
