Matt O’Halloran , 28, is a second year part time M.A. Illustration student at Plymouth College of Art, aiming to pursue a career in illustration and education. Matt joined the Young Artist Sharing the Light team in the summer of 2020 and has since become Arts Lab’s student representative for Devon, as well as creating work for one of our first online exhibitions, ‘The Lucifer Effect’. The story of Lord of the flies. Matt combines collage and drawing techniques to build imagery that tackles a range of topics, most notably of late, perceptions of good and evil and the fine line between them.
‘Exploring concepts of good and evil in different cultures, I came across Rangda and Barong, key features in Balinese Mythology. Rangda, leading an army of evil, would face the forces of good led by Barong. “Good and Evil 2” is one of many of illustrations I’ve created influenced by Balinese Mythology and the permeable line of good and evil.’ Matt O’Halloran, August 2020
