No CategoriesExhibition and talk by emerging, local artist Alice Clough – exploring themes of language, control and being human in an age of social disconnect and environmental collapse.
Alice was Arts Lab’s ‘summer experimenter’ artist resident earlier this year. This event offers a chance to explore her visually arresting installations of ceramics and text, as well as works in progress.
In a short talk at 12:30pm Alice will discuss the evolution of her work and her current project ‘Written’. After this, visitors will have the opportunity to make their own clay ‘words’.
Alice’s practice has evolved through a decade in academia studying archaeology, anthropology, sensory experience, spiritual ecology and material culture. Her interest in text and language started with the limiting nature of the academic ‘thesis’, and has led her to explore cross-disciplinary and multi-sensory ways of understanding.
Alice makes objects and installations inspired by evolution, ecology, and perception. She is a member of art.earth and the Arts Territory Exchange Network. Find out more at www.aliceclough.com.
