No CategoriesWeekly experimental drawing and painting classes for adult beginners, those who’ve had art in their lives and want more or anyone feeling adventurous to try something new.
Abstract artist Sara Downham-Lotto guides you in freeing up your creativity with playful explorations in mixed media. In a spacious artists’ studio in the heart of the Dartington estate, Sara shares her professional practice of 30 years, encouraging new ways of seeing and making. This is a great way to meet people, enjoy building creative confidence and expand your horizons.
As the course develops, we will focus on colour and composition, line and mark making, collage and layering, texture and surface pattern. Most sessions start with a 10 minute slideshow seminar based around course participants’ favourite artists and makers.
Participant feedback:
‘I’ve really enjoyed our course. It’s provided me with the space I needed to reconnect with my love of art and creating after 25 years away from drawing and painting. I found Sara to be full of encouragement and enthusiasm and I benefitted from learning about her approach to abstract art which was new to me.’
‘I am enjoying learning a new technique or two each week and the movement between different ways of working – individually, in pairs / groups or altogether. The studio space is great – a good size and it is fun to work on a bigger scale than I would normally be able to.’
